FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

I offer therapy for adults in Texas, Florida, and Colorado. Seeking help is a big and courageous step. It is not easy to put yourself out there, AND “it’s a beautiful day to do hard things.” If any of my services resonate with you, please do not hesitate to reach out.

What services do you offer?

All of my services are thoughtfully selected with your highest growth in mind. I integrate Accelerated Resolution Therapy, Pain Reprocessing Therapy, Cognitive Behavior Therapy, Schema Therapy, Mindfulness, Ecotherapy/Walk and Talk Therapy, and Expressive Arts into the therapeutic adventure. These are all evidence-based mind-body approaches that help with emotional expression related to:

  • Anxiety

  • Trauma

  • Chronic pain

  • Depression

  • Low self-esteem

  • Addictions and compulsive behaviors

  • Perfectionism and Inner Critic

  • Motivational struggles and procrastination

  • Attention difficulties and ADHD

  • Burnout and compassion fatigue

  • Health behavior change

  • Life transitions

  • Grief and loss

  • Existential concerns

  • Death awareness

  • Personal growth and resilience

  • Creative expression

  • Meaning in Life

Did you know? The most important factor in successful therapy is your emotional expression. Having a strong “therapeutic alliance” or “therapeutic rapport” with your therapist is undoubtedly important, but if you are not actively experiencing, expressing, and releasing emotions in therapy, you are less likely to achieve your desired treatment outcomes.

What is the first appointment like?

The first appointment is called an intake or psychosocial assessment. In addition to exploring your presenting concerns and life history, we will talk about your goals and identify some potential therapeutic approaches to support you in your mental health and wellness journey.

What is the time investment?

Counseling sessions are generally scheduled once a week, at least to start, and may be reduced in frequency as you achieve your goals. Other timings, such as biweekly or monthly, may also be discussed. Some issues may resolve in 1-5 sessions, while other issues may require a longer course of therapy. Everyone’s pace and progress is unique, and there is no right or wrong way. I am honored to journey with you for as long as you need.

What is the financial investment?

30 Minute Phone Consultation | Free
Initial Intake Assessment | $250
50 minute Individual Session | $215

I understand therapy is a significant investment of your time, money, and energy. I offer a complimentary 30 minute consultation so that you may gain a sense of what you are investing in and the value it may bring to achieving your goals.

Do you accept insurance?

I am NOT in-network with any insurance companies. If you have “Out-of-Network” (OON) benefits, I am happy to provide you with a monthly statement of services rendered (a “superbill”) for you to submit for partial reimbursement. Some insurance companies do not offer OON benefits. Please call to verify your OON benefits with the following questions:

  • Do I have Out-of-Network benefits for mental health counseling?

  • Do I need to meet a deductible to receive reimbursement for Out-of-Network mental health counseling?

  • What is my deductible and has it been met?

  • Once my deductible is met, how much of my out-of-pocket payment will be reimbursed?

  • How many sessions per year does my health insurance cover?

Do you have a sliding scale?

Please do not hesitate to be in touch if you feel that therapy with me would benefit you. I have a modified sliding scale based on need, upon request. Individuals who are able to pay my full rate make it possible for me to offer a sliding scale to individuals who may not be able to access my services without insurance or due to limited finances. If my sliding scale spots are full or I am unable to accommodate a manageable sliding scale for you, I am happy to provide referrals and help you locate resources within your budget.

What forms of payment do you accept?

I accept credit cards (Visa, MasterCard, Discover, American Express), HSA/FSA cards, PayPal, and Zelle. I require that you keep a credit card on file to hold an appointment. I use SimplePractice as my Electronic Health Record, so your financial and Protected Health Information are secure. Payment is due at the time of the session.

What is your cancellation policy?

A minimum notice of 48 business hours is required for rescheduling or cancelling an appointment, as the scheduling of an appointment involves the reservation of time set aside especially for you. If for any reason a session is cancelled less than 48 business hours prior, the full fee will be charged. In the event of a medical emergency, please let me know as I may be able to waive a portion of the cancellation fee.

Good Faith Estimate

You have the right to receive a “Good Faith Estimate” explaining how much your medical care will cost. Under the law, health care providers need to give patients who do not have insurance or are not using insurance an estimate of the bill for medical items and services.

  • You have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate for the total expected cost of any non-emergency items or services. This includes related costs like medical tests, prescription drugs, equipment, and hospital fees.

  • Make sure your health care provider gives you a Good Faith Estimate in writing at least 1 business day before your medical service or item. You can also ask your health care provider, and any other provider you choose, for a Good Faith Estimate before you schedule an item or service.

  • If you receive a bill that is at least $400 more than your Good Faith Estimate, you can dispute the bill.

  • Make sure to save a copy or picture of your Good Faith Estimate.

  • For questions or more information about your right to a Good Faith Estimate, visit https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises

Where is your office located?

I provide online therapy, so it is wherever you have privacy. It could be your office, bedroom, or parked car. The session takes place virtually via HIPAA-compliant Zoom. Research shows that online therapy can be just as effective as in person. If we are meeting in person for outdoor therapy, you will receive directions to a local greenspace in the Sugar Land area.

Do you work with children, teens, couples, or families?

At this time, I only work with adults. I may see couples or families on a case-by-case basis.

Can you practice teletherapy in a different state?

Currently I am licensed to see clients in the state of Texas, Florida, and Colorado. As a Pain Reprocessing Therapy coach, I am able to work with clients in all states and overseas.
