Help is on the way.

Trauma and stress can be one-time events or an accumulation of painful emotional experiences across the lifetime. It is human to struggle when bad things happen.

In Accelerated Resolution Therapy, we say “Keep the Knowledge, Lose the Pain.” This means there is a path out of suffering and you do not have to stay stuck in life’s worst moments.

ART is a versatile therapy that works with a broad spectrum of mental health challenges that result from trauma and stress.

Accelerated Resolution Therapy

the rippling effect in a body of water

ART is designed for the rapid resolution of trauma and stress using eye movements and positive imagery rescripting, which facilitate deep emotional insights, creative solutions, and personal growth. ART works effectively in treating Post-Traumatic Stress (PTSD), anxiety, phobias, and more.

ART is an eye movement therapy and works by reprogramming how distressing images and bad memories are stored in the brain. ART uses imagination and metaphors to help you access your brain’s creative intelligence in the resolution of intrusive images and body sensations that are triggering your nervous system’s stress response.

ART combines many therapy modalities, including exposure therapy, guided imagery, gestalt, cognitive behavior therapy, psychodynamic therapy, somatic therapy, and mindfulness.

ART is more guided and structured than traditional talk therapy. In the words of Laney Rosenzweig, founder and developer of Accelerated Resolution Therapy, ART is “less gab, more grab.” This means you do not have to go over the details of the trauma or problem (if you don’t want to); ART will work anyways.

How ART Works

  • Desensitization.

ART takes a problem and puts the most distressing elements into a “Scene” you visualize while the eye movements are being applied. “The body keeps the score,” and when you show your brain the problem, it reveals where the trauma has been stored. Eye movements and metaphorical tools help desensitize triggers, resulting in less intense sensations, emotions, and reactions.

  • Eye Movements.

Eye movements are a bilateral stimulation which aid in the emotional processing of traumatic material and help decrease physiological arousal and increase feelings of calm and relaxation. The skilled use of eye movements are a nervous system hack, as they naturally occur during the REM stage of sleep and while awake can be harnessed for creative problem-solving and insight.

  • Voluntary Image Replacement.

ART opens what is known as the reconsolidation window—a discrete period of time during which activated memories are malleable and susceptible to change. ART uses positive imagery rescripting to help you flip the script. You become the Director of your scene and turn the nightmare into a good dream. Gain access to your unique metaphorical solutions and deep emotional insights.
